Lightning was linked to a range fire that scorched more than 640 acres of private land west of Glenns Ferry on Sunday, the Bureau of Land Management reported.

The first official range fire reported this season was reported around 8 p.m. that evening in the vicinity of milepost 119 near the interstate.

The BLM responded with a team of 41 firefighters that used six engines, one dozer and a water tender to contain the fire and halt its progress by 2 a.m. Monday.
