Charter high school honors its Class of 2017

Some rejoiced while others broke down in tears as 13 students earned their diplomas during their graduation from Richard McKenna Charter High School on Saturday.

"Today is an important milestone in the young lives for each of our graduates," said Todd Thorn, head teacher with the charter high school. "It marks the completion of their secondary education journey and the beginning of a much larger journey that lay ahead of them."

Graduation from high school marks a "rite of passage" shared by all young adults in American culture," said Thorn, who thanked those in the audience for honoring the accomplishments of these students.
