Arvel Shipley

Arvel Emmert Shipley, 87, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Arvel was born May 13, 1929, in Loyston, Tenn., to Dewey and Barbara Shipley. The third of 12 children, he grew up in Tennessee until he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948.

He married the love of his life, Clara Mae Allen, on Feb. 15, 1952. Together, they made their home in Mountain Home, Idaho, and they had four children, Clifford Wesley Shipley (Sherrill), Marian Elizabeth Canoy (Ron), Mark Anthony Shipley (Meg) and Karen Marie Mickelson (Alan).

Arvel had 11 grandchildren, LeKish (Mark), Jordan (Mikayla), Nick, Meghan (Joe), Luke, Graham (Samantha), Ryan, Curtis and Chace (Sasha); and five great-grandchildren, Kobe, Jace, Isabella, Arden and Liv.

Arvel’s commitment to God was the most important decision he made in his life, and he lived every day believing God’s purpose in the joys and challenges that he faced.

Arvel was preceded in death by his wife of almost 54 years, Clara; daughter, Marian; and wife, Annabelle.

A Memorial Service will be on April 15, 2017, 1 p.m. at the Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home in Bothell, Wash.
