Discussion continues on water acquisition plan

Ongoing water measurement and monitoring shows that the local aquifer that provides the county with water for its residents continues to decline. The county is undertaking steps to investigate ways to recharge and underground water reservoir.

Plans on acquiring more water for Elmore County remained a focus for the county commissioners as they met to discuss the issue during a meeting Feb. 17.

The commissioners approved Scott Campbell, an attorney with Lex H2O, to begin filing for water rights in multiple areas of the county with a focus on runoff from this winter's heavy snow in addition to working with other groups to address future plans and needs.
