Oren Worley

Oren L. Worley, 89, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Community Living Center at the VA in Boise from a brief illness. He was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, Leroy, Terry, Leland and Rex, and his youngest daughter, Debbie.

He is survived by his daughter, Ida (Jack) Hoffman; three granddaughters, Candy Goldsberry, Christy (Russ) Gentry and Kathy (Todd) Liveringhouse; and five great grandchildren, Jacky, Gina, Zach, Ayesha, and Jeremiah; and many adopted family members to include "Sis" Janet and "Brother" Larry.

Born in Hydro, Okla., the son of Ernest Oren and Alice Ida Worley, he spent most of his life living in Colorado and Tennessee.

Oren joined the U.S. Army and shortly after served his country toward the end of World War II on the Japanese Front.

In his early years after the war, Oren kept busy delivering milk like his dad and playing in Honky Tonk bars and saloons. He enjoyed playing the steel guitar and bass.

His musical talents turned toward God later in life when he sang for church choirs. He would also pass on his faith in and passion for God through his ministries to youth.

His most favorite memories were working at Chrissy Fowler Lumber Company, Colorado Springs and Robinson Plumbing and Johnson City Tennessee, where he met many important people like Mr. Robinson, who was more than a boss and became like family.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mountain Home. Inurnment with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
