Student earns American Legion's state speech honor

For the second straight year, a student from Meridian took home a state title after winning the American Legion's state speech contest, held recently at War Memorial Hall in Mountain Home.

Lochlan Frederick also pocketed more than $1,000 in prize money for his award-winning presentation and will now face off against more than 50 other students from across the United States and its territories during the Legion's national-level event.
