Mountain Home High School's wrestling team found the competition fierce as they battled it out during the "Battle for the Buckle" tournament, held Friday and Saturday in Coeur d' Alene.

Overall, the Tigers finished third out of 20 schools with Alex Castro leading the team with a second-place finish.

Those finishing third overall in their respective divisions were Dustin Farnworth, Pierce Mederios, Kanoa Doronio and Jonathan Kaiser. Tyler Hardin was fifth in his division while Zach Slack came in sixth.

"Although we did not have any champions, the guys wrestled great," said coach Scott Mederios.

The Tigers hosted Emmett and Skyview on Monday in a meet that was rescheduled due to winter weather. The team takes to the road later this week as they face Ridgevue at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, and compete at the Pocatello Duals on Friday and Saturday. Mountain Home closes out its regular season schedule on Tuesday as they host Middleton at 5 p.m. in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
