Leads sought in car burglaries

Thursday, January 12, 2017

The Mountain Home Police Department is seeking the public's help for information and possible leads involving a string of car burglaries on the city's north side.

"The burglars are taking the easy route, and it is suspected they are targeting unlocked cars in the middle of the night that are parked on the streets and in driveways," said police department spokesperson Melanie Broughton.

Police are conducting extra patrols in the city's neighborhoods and stopping to talk to people walking around at night in an attempt to stop further burglaries.

"Don't become a victim of opportunity," Broughton said. "Take your valuables inside, and lock the doors to your vehicles."

People are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

"We are asking the public to report all vehicle burglaries, even if there wasn't anything stolen," Broughton said. "This will help us with our investigation."

Those with any information regarding the burglaries are asked to call the police department at 587-2101 or the county dispatch office at 587-2100. People can also submit anonymous tips on the department's website at www.mhpd.net under the "silent witness" link.

  • Lock those cars no matter what. It's sad that it's come to this, but...
