1934-2016

Mr. Richard L. "Dick" Berry, 82 of Mountain Home, passed away on Nov. 24, 2016 at Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, and burial with full military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Richard was born on May 18, 1934, to Everett and Francis Berry in Gillette, Wyo.

After high school, Richard attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, S.D. Richard then decided to join the military where he became a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was a Radar Navigator, which put him in B-47s and B-52s.

Richard was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base when he met and then married Betty J. Johnson. They were blessed with three sons.

While living in Spokane, Wash., and after serving 20 plus years in the Air Force, Richard retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He then moved back to Mountain Home to be near family. Richard then started work managing the family business, Mountain Home Redi-mix. He retired from the family business in 2002.

Since retiring, Richard spent the last 14 years traveling to his vacation home in La Quinta, Calif. He enjoyed a very special friendship with Colleen O'Neill. They loved to travel together and see the world. Colleen was a very special part of Richard's life.

Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Big Horn Chapter #43. He then became a member of the El Korah Shrine Tin Lizzies as well as a member of the Mountain Home Elks Lodge.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Everett Berry; his mother, Francis Berry; his in-laws, Clifford and Vera Johnson; and his loving wife, Betty Berry.

He is survived by his brother, Dave Berry; his brother-in-law, Larry Johnson and his wife, Joann; his sons Mark Berry and his wife, Lana; Greg Berry and his wife, Lisa; Todd Berry and his wife, Carol; his grandchildren Tiffany Funk and her husband, Nick; Kristin Berry; Alisha Truskowski and her husband, Karl; Jeffrey Berry; Madison Berry and her fiancé, Tyler; Alexis Aldrich and her husband, Terry; his great-grandchildren Brighton Truskowski and Ryder Henning; and his companion, Colleen O'Neill, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a beloved father, brother, Papa, Bumpa, Grandpa-great and a friend. Heaven has gained a very special man who will live on in our hearts forever.
