WECRD approves plan to rebuild park feature

A measure approved by the Western Elmore County Recreation District seeks to replace the announcer's booth at Optimist Park, which hosts the Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo each year.

Plans to build a new feature at Optimist Park continued to move ahead last week after the Western Elmore County Recreation District board signed an agreement that would allow both organizations to work together on that effort.

The memorandum of understanding approved on a unanimous vote by the recreation district board on Nov. 16 gives the taxing district the authorization needed to pay to replace the announcer's booth at the community park, which is in a state of disrepair and deemed unsafe for public use.
