Taking a stand against pancreatic cancer

Tuesday, November 22, 2016
Mayor Rich Sykes is joined by Caiden and Rosemary Ash as well as Maxine Rowett and Isabella Ireland as he signs a proclamation declaring Thursday, Nov. 17, as "World Pancreatic Cancer Day" in Mountain Home. The effort is designed to raise awareness of the disease, which remains the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States and expected to climb to the second leading cause of cancer death within the next four years. An estimated 49,000 people in the United States are expected to be diagnosed with the disease this year, which is normally diagnosed by the time it reaches its last stage.
