Firemen's Ball set for Nov. 26

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

The annual Fireman's Ball begins at 9 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Elk's Lodge in Mountain Home.

Celebrating its 108th anniversary here, the ball helps raise money for the local volunteer fire department's burnout fund and its aid to injured firemen fund.

Proceeds also support the department's scholarship programs, which it presents to local students each year.

At the same time, the ball allows the fire department to extend its thanks to local businesses and those in the community who provide donations to support both programs, said city fire marshal Brian Reed.

The informal-dress event is free and open to the general public, and admission tickets are not required.

During the evening, organizers will hold a live and silent auctions and raffles with a dance featuring D.J. music scheduled to wrap up the yearly festivities.

The fire department is currently accepting items for this year's raffles and auctions. For more information on the event, call the city fire department at 587-2117.
