Elmore County lost one of its "Old Timers" -- beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend Wanda Lee (Ottenheimer) Corbus, who joined her Heavenly Father on Oct. 23, 2016.

Born in November 1939 in Mountain Home to Elmore and Margaret Ottenheimer, Wanda spent much of her childhood growing up on the South Fork of the Boise River in the Pine/Featherville area. She could be seen herding sheep and cattle at a very young age.

Wanda enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going boon-tooly-ing (special old-timer lingo) with her children and grandchildren. She also had a passion for preserving Elmore County's history and was an amazing story teller of local history and folklore. She loved sharing with family and friends.

She had a kind heart and an open door to all who was in need. She was a cherished mother and mother-figure to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Wanda's love for her family was unconditional and never ending.

Wanda married Don Corbus in 1960, where they had three children. She is survived by her three children, Ray Corbus (Linda), Bud Corbus (Edie) of Mountain Home and Donna Young (Jay) of Kuna; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wanda also had a very special godson, Wayne (Jo) Mankins of Kettle Falls, Wash.

There will be an informal gathering for family and friends to visit and share stories in Wanda's memory Nov. 3, 2016, 3 to 5 p.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, located at 500 North 18th East St. in Mountain Home.

In lieu of flowers, B & C Welding is accepting contributions for a special memorial donation to be made in Wanda's name by the family.
