Aiming at the goal...

David DeVore, a student from East Elementary School, lifts a shot into the left side of a modified goal during this year's soccer shootout, held recently at Legacy Park. Hosted by the Mountain Home Elks Lodge, the event brought together a number of students between ages 4 and 13, who put their goal-shooting skills to the test during the day. DeVore racked up 18 points that day, which was just enough to qualify for the state shoot-out finals, scheduled for later this fall in Blackfoot.

Eight-year-old Evelyn DeVore gives the ball the boot as she competed that day. While she might not have qualified for the next level of competition with a number of her shots going wide, she admitted that she had fun that day.
