The Lady Tigers' varsity team faced an uphill climb during a 21-25 loss in the opening match before coming back with a 25-16 win Aug. 30 in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Ridgevue edged the Lady Tigers in the third match, 23-25, before Mountain Home dominated the remaining matches, 25-23 and 15-10.

Sable Lohmeier led Mountain Hom with 18 kills and five aces. Rebekah Austin added six kills for the Lady Tigers while Jazzi Cristobal was credited with 32 assists.

The Lady Tigers started their season with a 1-0 conference record before they traveled to the Treasure Valley on Thursday to take on Vallivue.

Mountain Home started off on a positive foot with a 25-20 win in the opening match but struggled in the remaining three as the team fell to the Lady Hawks, 17-25, 21-25 and 17-25.

Lohmeier led the Lady Tigers with 15 kills while Cristobal came away with 24 assists and three aces.

"We had a strong start but really struggled with passing in the last sets," said Lady Tigers coach Jill Peterson. "We'll be working on consistency and accuracy this weekend ready to head into games next week."

The varsity team is currently without outside hitter, Emalee Pippin, who remains sidelined with an injury. However, the coach added that the other players are stepping up to fill that void.

"We're a young team with seven sophomores, so I am optimistic that we'll keep getting better as the season progresses," Peterson said. "This is a great group of girls who compete with passion and are determined to exceed expectations. I'm confident they will."

The Lady Tigers return home today, Sept. 7, for a tri-match against Skyview and Bishop Kelly. Varsity action begins 4:30 p.m. in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
