Arlene Everett slices into a homemade apple pie before presenting it for judging during a baking contest held during the Mountain Home Historical Museum's annual pie social Aug. 16.

The effort raised close to $3,000, which will go to support the local museum and the historical events it holds throughout the year. During the baking contest, Bev Lucia took top honors with her homemade creation.

Museum director Deb Shoemaker holds up a homemade apple pie that was up for bid during an auction held that afternoon. Organizers auctioned off 56 pies along with 13 cakes.
