A burn barrel was linked to a fire that scorched 30 acres of land and threatened homes along Highway 51 on Sunday.

The fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. at the home of Joe Cury off Friesian Drive after paper burning inside the barrel blew out and ignited dried grass on his property, said Capt. Rick VanMeer from the Mountain Home Fire Department.
