Residents asked to conserve water

Monday, July 11, 2016

After two of Mountain Home's largest drinking water producing wells went down on Sunday, Mayor Rich Sykes asked residents to curtail their water usage for the next 10 to 14 days while repairs are made to the system.

It was discovered that a pump on Well 11 near the city airport burned up on Sunday.

Technicians found brass shavings in the well. Sykes said it could take up to two weeks to replace the pump and clear out the system.

Meanwhile, a valve in Well 6 off West 5th North Street, which provides water to the city's main water storage tank, malfunctioned and diverted water away from that tank. On Monday morning, that tank had just four feet of water in it.

Water is now flowing back into the storage tank and was expected to return to normal operations by Monday afternoon.

Residents are asked to voluntarily cut back their lawn watering schedule to every other day.

Done my part and hoping the city does the same by cutting back as well. Not even going to assume that MHSD will do the same.
