Girls State participants

Friday, July 1, 2016

Four high school girls from the Mountain Home area received a first-hand look at the government process following their participation in this year's Girls State event, sponsored each year by American Legion Auxiliary Elmore Unit 26. Held from June 12 to 17 at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, the citizenship event gives these students the opportunity to work together as self-governing citizens while they are introduced to their duties, rights privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship, so they can understand and participate in the functions of government, auxiliary officials said. This year's participants were Rebecca Stechelin, Catherine Lundergreen, Cassidy Rabchenok and Alexis Newby.
