Man injured in vehicle crash

A Mountain Home man was injured following a single-vehicle crash in the vicinity of Canyon Creek Road around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Gary Swatzel, 66, was driving a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo when he lost control of the vehicle after turning off Highway 30 onto Canyon Creek, according to an initial report released by the Mountain Home Police Department. The sport utility vehicle then left the road and knocked down a fence. It slid approximately 70 feet before striking several parked vehicles inside a storage unit lot behind T&V Marine before it overturned onto its side, trapping the driver inside. Members of the Elmore County Extrication Team were called in to pull Swatzel from the wreckage. The driver was flown by air ambulance to a Boise-area hospital where he was treated and later released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
