The Elmore County Sheriff's Department issued an advisory Monday afternoon regarding a scam targeting local businesses and residents.

Targeted individuals in the local area are receiving calls from an alleged company stating they have eight advertisement slots available for placement on a magnet being offered by the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce.

"Please do not purchase the add," said Chief Deputy Mike Barclay. "The Elmore County Sheriff's Office has contacted the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, and they have not contracted with anyone for advertisements on magnets."

Those who agreed to purchase one of these ad are asked to contact the city police department at 587-2101 or the county dispatch office at 587-2100.
