WECRD needs more input
Dear editor,
I have always wondered, always been curious, why the business and government organizations in our community haven't seen a recreation complex as a positive opportunity. Is it because they cannot make a decision as a group?
I have never even heard public comments from them. Wouldn't a recreation complex be considered a positive asset for these organizations as a whole?
It seems that the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association should have a public opinion on a new Recreation Complex. You sat through numerous presentations through the years. Surely, as an organization, you have an opinion.
It is one of the best opportunities to come along since I-84 came through, and here you sit, doing nothing. You deserve what you get if you do nothing.
Express your opinion Economic Development Office and City and County leaders. Wouldn't a new Recreation Complex, along with complementary businesses and services, be considered an improvement to the community? Wouldn't it mean improved services and values as well as a better tax base?
I cannot think of one group that would not benefit from a recreation complex, including the senior center, the school district and law enforcement. As a matter of fact, law enforcement, I would like to see proof that a recreation complex would not be a benefit to your group.
It seems that would be a situation that most everyone would benefit from. So, to all of you organizations and politicians who are building platforms, I ask you to consider the idea of a Recreation Complex, not from blogs and sounding boards, but from your own minds and hearts.
I will respect that decision, even if I don't understand or agree. If you make your decision by listening to blogs and sounding boards, you are just a tool.
