Public seeks feedback on WECRD's direction

The land owned by the Western Elmore County Recreation District is located on South 18th Street near Mountain Home Junior High School. Construction on a 23,000 square foot facility was suspended and then cancelled in January of this year, leaving only piles of dirt and this project sign. The future of a dedicated recreation building in Mountain Home remains in question until the new board of directors can formulate a new plan, which could possibly happen in the next 60 days.

About 35 residents eventually filed into the Western Elmore County Recreation District offices last Wednesday to provide feedback and ask the directors what their plans are for the district's future.

Directors Judy Mayne and Art Nelson open the meeting with a two-person quorum and immediately approved three of the four past meeting minute reports.

    Got to ask, where were all these concerned citizens for the last 15 years while the previous board collected monies and only provided a fraction back to the community. The current directors are trying to undo the mess left by the last board members, members that gloated about the mess they were leaving in an email. Maybe the paper could do some actual reporting and see what the past board president has to say about the email she put out on this topic.
