Wrestlers fall to Caldwell in regular season finale

The Mountain Home Tigers finished their regular season on mixed news last Wednesday with the varsity team trailing the Cougars and the junior varsity squad losing in very close contest.

Caldwell picked up a number of wins against the varsity Tigers to finish the evening with a 45-22 win.

Alex Castro won by a 21-9 major decision in the 152-pound weight class. Daniel Cruz won a 9-5 decision in the 195 with Taylor Ogaard winning an 8-4 decision at 220.

Pierce Mederios won by a fall 6 minutes, 43 seconds into the match to lead the 113 division while Gavin Hazell won by forfeit at 106.

Gage Wilson lost by a major decision, 1-14, in the 98-pound weight class. Others losing by major decisions were Andrew Thornburg in the 160 and Jayden Sexton at 170.

Kanoa Doronio fell on a 2-3 decision at 120 while Dylan Park lost a 1-7 decision in the 138 and Jose Ortiz lost to a 3-6 decision at 285. Those losing by falls were Dallas Mayhew in the 126 division, David Welle at 132 and Brad Keierleber in the 145.

In junior varsity action, the Tigers battled tough but came up short on a 32-38 loss to the Cougars. Tyler Hardin won a 5-3 decision in the 145-pound weight class to lead the JV squad.

Timothy Goodell won by a fall just 1 minute, nine seconds, into the match to win in the 220 division while Troy Elliot won by a fall in the 126. Those winning by forfeit were Brandon Wussow at 113, Hayden Keierleber at 195 and Johnathan Kaiser in the 285.

Matt Arellano lost on a 0-3 decision in the 132-pound weight class. Luis Pedroza lost by a fall in the 138 division while Johnathon Sprain lost by a fall at 160.

Meanwhile, Jake Pruit lost by a technical fall at 152.
