Wrestlers dominate versus Middleton

With two weeks remaining in their regular season, the Mountain Home Tigers wrestling team continued to dominate the mat as they faced the Middleton Vikings on Jan. 27.

In varsity wrestling action that evening, the Tigers made short work of the Vikings, picking up a decisive 54-18 win.

Daniel Cruz won by a pin just 1 minute, 36 seconds, into the match to lead the 195-pound weight class. Taylor Ogaard won by pin 1 minute, 11 seconds, into a bout in the 220 division.

Pierce Mederios continued his winning ways in the 113 division, picking up a win by fall 2 minutes, 48 seconds into the match.

Kanoa Doronio won by a 6-2 decision in the 120-pound weight class. Alex Castro picked up a 6-3 win by decision in the 152 while Jose Ortiz earned a win on a 5-4 decision at 285. Jayden Sexton won by an 8-7 decision in overtime in the 170 division.

Those winning by forfeit were Gage Wilson in the 98 division, Dallas Mayhew at 126, David Welle in the 132 and Dillon Park at 138. Gavin Hazell lost to a 1-2 decision in the 106 division, Tyler Hardin fell by a 1-7 decision at 145 while Andrew Thornburg lost by pin in the 160.

The Tigers junior varsity team found the Vikings a lot more competitive with Mountain Home coming away with a 24-12 win.

Hayden Keierleber won by pin just 50 seconds into the match to lead the JV wrestlers in the 220-pound weight class. Troy Elliot won by pin at 1:26 in the 132 while Jonathan Kaiser won by pin at 1:01 in the 285 division. Hunter Thornburg won by a 6-3 decision in the 132 while Jonathon Sprain won a 10-4 decision at 160. Meanwhile, Austin Tetrault lost by pin in the 145 while Jacob Pruit lost by pin at 152.

On Tuesday, the Tigers varsity and junior varsity teams faced Kinberly and Gooding during a tri-meet in Lloyd Schiller Gymnsium. They close out their regular season Feb. 10 as they face Caldwell.
