Middle school principal arrested

Hacker Middle School Principal John Clark remains in custody at the Elmore County Jail after he was arrested Friday evening.

Clark, who took over as the school's principal in August, was charged with sexual abuse of a minor child.

Details regarding the case were not immediately known. However, district superintendent James Gilbert emphasized that the alleged incident didn't involve any students at the school nor did it happen on school grounds.

In addition, Clark was placed on administrative leave by the district.

"While we know there may be many questions regarding this situation, the district is limited on the information that can be provided as this is a personnel and criminal matter," Gilbert said in a message sent to parents. "As we move forward, we want to assure you that we have a plan in place to address the needs of students and staff at Hacker Middle School."
