Jerry Raymond "Coach" Ennis was born March 15, 1937, in Hailey, Idaho, to Kenneth W. Ennis and Berniece (Little) Ennis. When he was five years old, his family moved to Rupert.

Jerry, age 78, passed away at his home on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016. At Jerry's request, there will be no service. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Jerry graduated from the last class of Rupert High School in 1955. He furthered his education at Boise Junior College (Boise State), majoring in History, football and minoring in "Panty Raids."

He later went on to the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah, then to the University of Nevada and finished his education at Idaho State University in Pocatello. In Pocatello, he met and married Judy Budd of Blackfoot. Together, they had two daughters, Marni and Jeri Lynn. Jerry and Judy later divorced.

Jerry taught school in Blackfoot before moving to Brookings, Ore., then to Hailey, Idaho, and back home to the new East Minico Junior High School. Jerry loved to coach, he loved teaching his kids to play football and to wrestle; he always had a soft spot in his heart for "his Kids."

Jerry retired from teaching at Mountain Home Air Force Base and spent his days fishing and four-wheeling with his great friend, Bill Bowman. Bill you will never know how much I have appreciated everything you have done. You are the best.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Marni Nacheff of California; grandson Jerimiah, his daughter Jeri Lynn Frey of Pocatello; grandsons Jesse, Zach and granddaughter Hailey; his sister, Linda Price and her husband Don of Rupert; nieces Wendy Price-Quam (Jeremy) of Jerome and Melissa Price-Bair (Matt) of Rupert; nephews Charlie (Valerie) Price of Lake Dallas, Texas; and DJ (Brook) Price of Rupert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Berniece Ennis.

Donations in Jerry's memory can be sent to the Mountain Home Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 10, Mountain Home, ID 83647.

Jerry requested that his ashes be taken to a certain mountain top, and we will see that he gets there.

P.S.: Jeddy, you were always the favorite. Love, Leenda.
