Mountain Home's mayor reflects on service to city

The sound of passing cars and trucks broke the silence as Tom Rist reflected on a career spanning nearly a quarter century. Resting his hands on the desk, he locked his fingers together as he tried to summarize a career that saw its fair share of tremendous accomplishments and unexpected setbacks.

Through it all, he had no regrets.

Admitting that being mayor was the "most gratifying job" he's ever held, Rist said it was time to step down from public office following a career spanning 24 years.
