Anne Lorraine Potter, 92, died Dec. 23, 2015, in Mountain Home.

Born on Aug. 21, 1923, to Lloyd and Laura Vostad, she was raised near Volga, S.D., in a Norwegian farming community. The oldest of five children, she loved working with her father.

In 1939, she married Ken Swartos, who courted her on horseback, playing his accordion. They farmed and had four children, two dying in infancy.

While Ken served in World War II, Lorraine enjoyed boarding young women who shared in the workload.

In 1950, the Swartos moved to Cheyenne, Wyo. There, Lorraine got the special care she needed for her son, Larry, who had cerebral palsy. She became involved in Magic Cities, the Cheyenne organization that helps developmentally disabled adults.

Lorraine loved Cheyenne, remaining there until the last year of her life.

In 1955, she became a beautician, working for 40 years. She loved doing manicures for Wyoming's First Lady, Casey Herschler, was a licensed reflexologist and gave great foot massages.

An ardent Democrat, she served as an election worker all her life.

In 1963, Lorraine divorced. In 1968, she married Raymond Potter, who died in 1996.

Lorraine's passions were dancing, gardening and cats. She knew a lot about food and promoted healthy eating to anyone who would listen. She was loving and devoted to family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, a sister, her husband and sons Leland and Larry.

Surviving are sister Susy Jensen, two daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She has been lovingly cared for during her five year decline by granddaughter Rebecca Lampman of Bruneau.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2016 in Cheyenne. Memorials may be sent to Magic City Enterprises 1780 Westland Road Cheyenne, WY 82001.

Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
