MHJHS wrestlers win titles at district, state tourneys

Mountain Home Junior High School's wrestling team finished the season on a positive note by coming home with a championship title during this year's district tournament.

The junior high team brought 29 Tigers to the Intervalley League East Division District Tournament on Dec. 4 and 5 with 14 wrestlers placing at the event.

Jacob Herrboldt was named a district champion after he finished first in the 113-pound weight class. Others earning honors at the tournament, by weight class, are as follows:

* 75 pounds -- Kobe Jewett, third place; William Pendleton, fifth place

* 88 pounds -- Kawika Doronio, third place; Sean Sabol, sixth place

* 94 pounds -- Dustin Farnworth, third place

* 101 pounds -- Zach Park, third place

* 106 pounds -- Mykal Castillo, third place

* 120 pounds -- Kaleb Hill, sixth place

* 132 pounds -- Logan Tibbitts, fourth place; Jonathan Ybarra, fifth place

* 138 pounds -- Trevor Dockstader, sixth place

* 145 pounds -- Avery James, fourth place

* 182 pounds -- Max Juarez, second place

In related news, the junior high squad had three wrestlers compete at the Idaho Middle School State Wrestling Championship on Dec. 19 in Kuna. Mountain Home was among 45 schools at the championship event.

Herrboldt continued his winning ways by finishing third in the 114-pound weight class. Others attending the state event were Farnworth, who finished fifth in the 95-pound weight class and Castillo, who competed at 107 pounds.
