Catherine Mae Pruett, 57 of Glenns Ferry, passed away Dec. 11, 2015. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

A Celebration of Cathy's Life will be held at the DeRail in Glenns Ferry at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Cathy was born to Patricia Joy and Richard Albert Jones in Torrance, Calif., on Jan. 3, 1958. She spent most of her childhood in Iowa.

She joined the Air National Guard in 1975 and met Herbert Rogow in Las Vegas, Nev. They were married in 1976 and had the first of their four children. Over the next 13 years, they lived across the U.S. and in Germany, where they had three more children, finally settling in Mountain Home.

Cathy met her second husband, Bill Pruett in the early 90s. They were married and lived together at the Half Moon Ranch in King Hill. Over the years, they raised horses and farmed hay.

Each year, they spent time hunting elk in the Sawtooth Mountains near Grandjean. In 2004, Cathy was diagnosed with oral cancer. The City of Glenns Ferry rallied around her to help during and after her surgery.

After Bill's passing in 2005, Cathy moved to Glenns Ferry and became part of the community. She prided herself on helping folks in need of food, clothing, or a place to sleep.

Everyone will tell you that you always knew where you stood with Cathy; she was a woman who spoke her mind. Cathy was also a devoted grandmother to her two grandsons and enjoyed all the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her four children, David Rogow of California, Richard Rogow of Boise, Amanda (Dylan) Bruesch of Boise and Melody (Brian) Ward of Glenns Ferry; her three sisters, Teresa Stevens of Minnesota, Kim Johnson of Nebraska and Carolyn Tague of Iowa; her two grandsons, Aidan and Rowan Bruesch; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents and two sisters, Cindy Bennett and Lynette West.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Post 26, P.O. Box 126, Mountain Home, ID 83647, where Cathy was a member.
