Three vehicle crash injures two

A city maintenance truck sustained significant damage during the three-vehicle collision Thursday morning.

Two people were transported to St. Luke's Elmore medical center Thursday morning following a three-vehicle crash.

The collision occurred at the intersection of North 2nd East Street and American Legion Boulevard around 10 a.m.

According to emergency responders at the scene, a city employee was driving a pickup truck was stopped for a red light in the northbound lane of North 2nd East Street when a white Ford F-350 pickup truck ran into read end the city truck.

The impact of that crash pushed the city truck into the side of a semi truck trailer traveling eastbound through the intersection on American Legion.

"I'm still a little shook up after watching the drivers of those two pickup trucks being taken away in an ambulance," said the driver of the semi truck, who appeared unhurt following the collision.

The two injured in the crash were listed in stable condition, city police reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
