Jerry Frank Kinney passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2015. He will be laid to rest in June 2016 in Riggins, Idaho.

Jerry was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Frank S. Kinney and Isabell (Hoskins) Kinney. He grew up in McCammon, Idaho, where he went to North Marsh (later Marsh Valley) High School in Arimo, Idaho.

At North Marsh, he participated in basketball and baseball. From 1953 to 1954, he was instrumental in leading the basketball team to the finals. The team was ultimately the Class B State Basketball champions.

During his high school baseball career, he pitched service one hitters and a no hitter. He had the distinct opportunity to pitch against Harmon Killebrew as well.

Upon graduating from high school in 1955, he joined the Air Force where he served from 1955 to 1975, retiring as a master sergeant. While in the military, he received several medals and ribbons, including the Meritorious Service Medal.

While serving in Germany, he met his first wife, Dorothee Kalkuhl. From this marriage, three children were born, Michael, Kevin and Ronald Kinney.

The couple later divorced in Fort Worth, Texas. Thereafter, he married Barbara. They were divorced in 1992, and there were no children from this marriage.

Jerry is survived by Michael and Tina Kinney of Katy, Texas; Ronald and Amy Kinney of Kennedale, Texas; along with six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Isabell Kinney; his sister, Luella Jean Kinney Smith; and his brother, Maurice LaMar Kinney.

The family will have a memorial on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Mountain Home, Idaho. We will send an additional announcement with specific details when the time gets closer.
