Junior high Tigers struggle

The ball goes airborne as the seventh grade Tigers face Middleton on Sept. 22. The junior high's newest football team held the Vikings scoreless in the first quarter but began trailing in the second as Mountain Home lost the contest, 13-27.

Two large running plays and a 35-yard pass weren't enough to help Mountain Home Junior High School's eighth grade football team overcome a 14-point deficit as they fell to Emmett on Sept. 15.

Nickolas Rojas completed a 20-yard run while Landon Bliss added another 16-yard run for the seventh grade Tigers, who made their debut this season.

Bliss then connected with Luis Castillo during another of the Tigers' noteworthy offensive gains that evening.

Shawn Martinez led the team on defense with six tackles while Malachi Myall completed five tackles and a fumble recovery. Meanwhile, Luis Castillo finished the game with four tackles and an interception.

"The team plays hard and continue to improve each week," said coach Simon Hutchings.
