Election: 2016 Uncontested races cancelled three others set to continue

Voters in the Mountain Home area will head to the polls Nov. 3 to select their next mayor in addition to members of the city council. In addition, voters in selected districts will also cast their votes for two seats on the Western Elmore County Recreation District's board of directors. Included here are the candidates that have already filed for the upcoming election. This doesn't include any write-in candidates, who have until 5 p.m. Oct. 6 to submit their paperwork to the Elmore County Elections Office at the county courthouse.

Local elections involving six taxing districts across the county were cancelled last week with only one candidate running in four of those races.

Douglas Mayne is expected to fill the District 3 seat with the Mountain Home Rural Fire District after no one else filed to run, and John Walker was the only candidate that filed to run for the commissioner seat District 1 in the King Hill Rural Fire District.
