Frank Antonio Medina Sr., age 85 of Mountain Home and formerly of Grand View, passed away at a Mountain Home care center on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home. On Friday, September 25, 2015, a viewing will be held from 10 to to 10:45 a.m., and a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall in Grand View.

Frank was born Oct. 26, 1929, in San Pedro Tesistan Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Felix and Romona Medina. He moved to California, was married in Oroville and had one son, Frank Medina Jr. He worked for the railroad in California before moving to Idaho.

Frank moved to Bruneau in the late 60s. He worked for several ranchers such as Chuck Steiner, Bob Tindall and Nahaus Ranches as a cowboy. Frank was known as a top hand, and ranch cowboy for any brand he rode for. Other numerous ranches included Fuquay Ranches, Bill White ranches, John Stiner ranches (Cross Crowfoot).

Frank met Irene Thomas, and they had three boys and one girl, Wilford, Dewey, Jesse and Connie.

After Frank's health started to take a toll on him, he eventually he had to stop being a buckaroo. Being a cowboy was what he loved.

As all of you who knew him, all of you have a story to tell. Frank had eyes of an antelope. He was special in many ways. Frank loved his animals including a horses named Crystal. He also loved the Owyhee and Grand View mountains.

Frank is survived by his children, Frank Jr. and his wife, Roxanne Medina; Wilford and his wife, Patricia Thomas; Dewey and his wife, Charlene Thomas; Connie Thomas-Bear and her husband, Robert Bear; Jesse and his wife, Renee Thomas; stepdaughter Faylene Sam, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, four brothers, two sisters and a step son, Jason Wendell Sam.
