State's gas prices falling, remain above natl average

Friday, September 11, 2015
Lower gas prices were tied to an expected jump in the number of Labor Day weekend travelers.

Following a seasonal jump in the average cost for a gallon of gasoline, prices across the state fell to an 11-year low in time for the Labor Day weekend but were still 42 cents above the national average.

Falling oil prices brought prices in Mountain Home and cities across southern Idaho below $3 per gallon for unleaded and diesel brands of fuel, making it easier on the wallets of an estimated 30.4 million Americans traveling over the past weekend, according to the American Automobile Association.

  • Hopefully local merchants will not price gouge the community this time. I would love to see the prices stay competitive with surrounding areas.
