Mayor selected as 2015 AFAD grand marshal

Sue and John Gross, past Air Force Appreciation Day parade grand marshals, present a plague to Mayor Tom Rist after the mayor was named this year's parade grand marshal during an announcement ceremony on Monday. Rist's 30-year history with the event lead to his nomination from a committee comprised of past grand marshals. The mayor will preside over the Sept. 12 event that features Idaho's largest parade.

Mayor Tom Rist was named the grand marshal for the 2015 Air Force Appreciation Day Parade at a chamber of commerce luncheon on Monday.
Continuing a tradition that began in 1970, selections for grand marshal are based on nominations from those who previously earned this distinction.
