Letter to the Editor

Generosity was appreciated

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Dear editor,

What a wonderful community we live in. Today, the last of the free summer lunches were served, which have fed hundreds of hungry children over the course of the summer at different locations, and free school supplies or supply vouchers were handed out as well.

The generosity of Mountain Home never ceases to amaze me. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul ran the lunch program and headed up the school supply distribution. Many sponsors and individuals donated backpacks and school supplies, volunteers donated countless hours for both programs, parents donated time to help today even after their children had their supplies.

The list goes on and on.

This was the largest distribution of school supplies that I have ever been involved in. So many children and adults stepped up today to make things run more smoothly, from holding line signs to translating instructions in Spanish.

I just want to give a shout out to the people of Mountain Home and thank everyone that made these amazing events happen for my students.
