Felipe Angel Aguirre, 85 of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully with family by his side at a Mountain Home hospital. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, and a Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church, and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Felipe is adored by his Basque family, and all remember how he really enjoyed the family get togethers where he watched the kids and the dogs and enjoyed good, home-cooked food. In the family gatherings, he heard about what was going on with the cattle, the crops and he especially loved his drive where he saw what was going on at the dairies.

He loved his Chocolate milkshake on a hot day and a hot cup of coffee on a cold day. The family felt it was better than the movies when Felipe would get to telling stories.

Felipe was the camp tender in sheep camp at a young age. He learned how to cook, move the camps and had meals on for the herders. Felipe and a couple of his kids would tend and move camp on the annual cattle drive from Prairie to Mountain Home while the rest of the kids would help bring the cows with the crew.

The Aguirre family always had their annual camping trip to the Trinity Mountains, and they loved fishing although they were never really good at it. The 4H was especially fun for Felipe.

In the middle of haying season, he loved putting up silage and making fat calves. Haying with his kids' help at Prairie was special to him. Felipe took pride in building a new fence.

He loved to take good care of his animals. Felipe loved it when someone would come by and talk Basque with him. He especially enjoyed a good coffee break with some small conversation in between.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frences; his brothers, Richard and Domingo; and his sister in-law, Dolores. Felipe is survived by his children, Richard, Carmen, Jeannie and Felipe, and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Felipe's name can be dropped off at Wells Fargo for the Aguirre Scholarship Fund.
