Farewell to a good friend

Alvin Powers, the "voice" of the Mountain Home Tigers.

We always worry when some people come into our office unexpectedly because it often means they come bearing bad news. That happened the other day when Alvin Powers, the voice of Mountain Home's sports community for the past 40 years, stopped by to announce that he was retiring once and for all.

The news really hit us hard because I understand how integral he's been to the local sports scene. He not only provided outstanding coverage for Mountain Home High School's sports program, but he was a huge supporter of the Mountain Home Royals baseball team as well.
