County moving forward on water issues

A long-range plan seeks to increase the height of Anderson Ranch Dam by an additional six feet, which would allow it to store an additional 29,000 acre feet of water.

Long-range plans aimed at rising the height of two dams in Elmore County are prompting county commissioners to find ways of securing some of this water for use here.

"Water is going to become one the most critical issues this county can ever face," said County Commissioner Bus Corbus.

Without a chance of securing access to additional water and subsequent water rights, the county's future growth will simply stop, Corbus said.
