This *is* rocket science

Alma Jessop from Katie Crawford's classroom at West Elementary School attaches the nosecone to a handmade rocket as he prepared to attach fins to the kit during a program on Friday.

Students in Crawford's second grade classroom got their first look at the science behind rocketry as they built "stomp" rockets, which fly using compressed air.

The students are scheduled to launch their creations this Friday.
