Crash claims life of Mountain Home man

Friday, March 13, 2015

A Mountain Home man was killed and another driver injured in two-vehicle crash late Thursday evening.

Michael Fields, 58, of Mountain Home was driving a 1986 Ford F350 westbound on Ditto Creek Road when he collided with a 1998 Chevrolet Metro driven by Betty Pettibone, 44, of Oasis.

According to a press statement from the Idaho State Police, the truck driven by Fields crossed the center line prior to the crash. Fields was not wearing his seatbelt and died from his injuries at the scene.

Pettibone was wearing her seatbelt and taken by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.

  • How about the part about how it was the fault of the man who died.

Why no update to this story?

This is a single mom with 2 kids who will have more medical bills than insurance. She has 2 teens to raise and will be off work as she attempts to recover. All because she was on her way to work and crossed the path of this man.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up as Betty Pettibone Expenses. All monies will go to help her and her 2 girls.

  • I think him crossing the center line is saying he was at fault. An update to the story isn't going to change what happened. Thank God she's alive.
