School levy narrowly passes

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

Voters living in the Bruneau Grand View School District approved a $1.4 million supplemental levy during an election Tuesday.

According to initial results released by the Owyhee County elections office, the initiative passed by 41 votes with 279 voting in favor of the levy and 238 opposed.

This week's election marked the second time in two years that voters in the rural district faced a supplemental levy decision. Last August, voters passed a one-year, $600,000 levy to keep the district from having to consolidate all three of its schools under one roof, which expires this June.

The money outlined in the new levy will be paid out in equal installments of $700,000 over the next two years.
