Report: State water supply already off to good start

Friday, January 23, 2015
Anderson Ranch Reservoir was storing nearly 255,000 acre-feet of water, according to a report released by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The January report showed that water levels in the reservoir are significantly higher than last year's figures.

Lakes, streams and reservoirs remain in good shape at the start of the new year with state water supplies in some areas already above their average levels, according to a report released last week by the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Based on Idaho's surface water supply index, water totals around the state should be adequate with some exceptions for the central Idaho basins, the report stated. With near-normal spring and summer streamflows projected across most of the state and half the winter still to come, they expect the water supply outlook to continue to improve.
