Lady Tigers lose another two

Thursday, December 11, 2014

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers continued their shooting woes last week, dropping road games at Jerome and Eagle.

Jerome 36, Mountain Home 12

Mountain Home had its problems getting the ball through the hoop last Tuesday night at Jerome, as the Lady Tigers fell to Jerome 36-12.

Mountain Home, playing without Mattie Bennett indefinitely because of a broken nose and concussion, managed just two points in the first and third quarters, and four in the second and fourth, as they trailed 11-2 after one, 18-6 at the half, and 27-8 after three.

"We are most definitely struggling to find points without Mattie," said Lady Tigers coach Brent Keener. "We need some kids to step up and hopefully find some production. We did a pretty good job defensively, and held their best player to 10 points, but someone put a lid on the basket."

Whitney Sanderg led Mountain Home in scoring with eight points and Jacey Carr and Missy Jessup both scored two points as the Lady Tigers hit just 16 percent from the field. They didn't do much better from the free-throw line, hitting just two of 11 for 18 percent..

Eagle 54, Mountain Home 11

It was another cold night of shooting for the Lady Tigers last Wednesday night as they lost at Eagle 54-11. The game was a make-up of the Nov. 15 game that was postponed because of weather.

Mountain Home managed just one point in the first quarter as the Lady Tigers fell behind 21-1. They managed four points in both the second and third quarters and trailed 52-9 after three.

"Ashten Harrigan played in her first varsity game and tied for leading scorer for us in the game," said Coach Keener. "That's a definite positive."

Missing Mattie Bennett, Mountain Home was also without the services of center Sable Lohmeier, who missed the game because of club volleyball practice.

Ashten Harrigan and Missy Jessup both scored four points to lead the Lady Tigers and Whitney Sandberg added three points.

Mountain Home shot a frigid seven percent from the field and made five off 11 of their free throws.

The 0-6 Lady Tigers hosted Jerome Tuesday night, open their conference schedule Thursday at home against Skyview and complete their pre-Christmas schedule Friday night at Gooding. They will play in the Canyon Ridge Tournament starting Dec. 29 in Twin Falls.
