Marjorie Ellen Nixon Garner, 92, of Mountain Home passed on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at her home, surrounded by friends and family. She now rests peacefully in the arms of her Heavenly Father.

Marjorie loved her hometowns of Mountain Home and Rocky Bar. She was possibly the last surviving pioneer to have been born in Rocky Bar, Idaho.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, with a viewing from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Marjorie was born July 2, 1922, of hardy pioneer stock, being the youngest of seven children born to William and Daisy Nixon in Rocky Bar. Marjorie graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1940.

Shortly thereafter, she attended art school in Los Angeles. Over the years, she developed into a talented artist, painting pictures of scenic mountains and wildlife, as well as portraits of family members.

Marjorie was married to Fred Kniefel, and to this union was born Diane, Michael and Vicki. Later, she married E.E. "Buck" Garner. To this union was born Richard and Ronald. Buck brought his children into the family of which were Clyde, Verlene, Ardell, Florence and Patrician.

In her early years, she worked at First Security Bank and later was a bookkeeper for Pettingill's Gas-For-Less. As a member of the First Christian Church (now Christian and Baptist Church), she served as secretary of the church from about 1960 and assumed that role for the following 50-plus years.

Marjorie loved her gardening and flowers that everyone else loved as well. She followed in the footsteps of her mother and older sisters in their love for flower gardening. Compliments were forever abundant towards her beautiful flowers and blooms.

She will be missed by all those who had the honor of knowing her kind and loving personality. We are also going to miss hearing mom's favorite saying, that she is "fine as frog hair."

Marjorie is survived by Diane Dupont, Vicki Wise, Richard Garner and Ronald Garner; stepchildren Verlene, Ardell and Florence; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, plus nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.E. "Buck" Garner; her parents; three sisters, Alma Bartlett, Evelyn Baun and Baby Nixon; three brothers, Francis Marion, Harold "Frosty" and William "Billy;" her son, Michael; a stepson, Clyde Garner, and a stepdaughter, Patrician Garner.
