Victory a blessing in disguise

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Dear editor:

One of the things we can all be thankful for over this Thanksgiving season, is that we're not speaking Chinese yet, and this new GOP needs to start getting this national debt debacle reversed, after they take control.

Between the borders, the illegals, troops overseas, race riots, the IRS and a dozen other things, it's tough to know where to start.

Obama "inherited" the debt at around $10 trillion, promised to cut it in half by the end of his first term. It is now 18. The problem isn't complicated or "cosmic." When you continually spend more than you take in, you "max out that credit card" in short order. It's simple basics.

Every year it's the same thing. Reid demands the debt ceiling to be lifted because "we don't have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem." Really? With just minimum effort on your computer, you could entertain yourselves for DAYS, coming up with massive lists of government fraud, waste and abuse. Pelosi said last year in an interview, "the cupboard is bare, there's no place to cut." Well, Nancy says a lot of things, doesn't she?

When Boehner balks at Reid's annual "ceiling raise" demands with NO SPENDING CUTS on Harry's part, Reid calls on his faithful stooges in the lamestream media and the GOP is "holding America hostage" once again." Only Harry Reid would have the audacity to blame the "other guys" for doing NOTHING and for holding things up, when all the time he has SAT on nearly 390 House bills that are "DEAD ON ARRIVAL" upon delivery. Smart thinking actually, if you're a crook. How can anyone blame you for voting against constituent wishes, if you never voted at ALL on it? And Harry always made sure that didn't happen.

You see, had Reid allowed a lot of this stuff to get brought to an "up and down vote," guess what happens if a bill happens to pass? Guess who's desk it finds NEXT? Anything the PRESIDENT signs, HE gets the credit for -- or the BLAME for. Always easier to do NOTHING. Most Dem voters are locked into MSNBC or a half dozen OTHER networks anyway, where they would NEVER hear about Reid "sitting" on House bills, and it's become just as easy to blame the House, as it's been to blame BUSH for everything else.

Although a hard right-winger, I do not have the confidence in OUR party that I used to, mainly due to the "RINO infiltration" that exists in today's D.C. But the GOP needs to step up now and get something done. Government spending has become rampant because nobody has reminded them that it's not THEIR money, it's OURS.

There HAVE to be spending cuts. SERIOUS ones. The tax dollars they waste on cow flatulent studies, and why the South African tse-tse fly won't mate in the month of December, would repair a lot of bridges and highways in this country.

How is it we have our military all over the world protecting everyone ELSE's borders, but we can't protect our own? Someone needs to explain that to me, (and that goes back even before Obama). But SOMEBODY in charge needs to close every overseas base and put our troops on OUR borders before the rest of the world sees the totally open-door policy we now have, and it becomes a matter of "come one, come all."

All foreign aid MUST END. ALL of it. Most Americans don't feel the need to support the rest of the world with tax dollars, and money we are now BORROWING from China. It's not our job, nor taxpayer obligation. Feel sorry for hungry people in other countries who keep having kids they can't support? (and we do some of that RIGHT HERE, don't we?). Does your heart just break for them? Well then, pull your OWN checkbook out and DONATE. Maybe most taxpayers don't FEEL like you do, and he is being ROBBED every time tax dollars are taken from him to support something he personally would NOT.

Washington has long become too free with OTHER folk's money, and until recently, has faced little to no consequences for it. Do you personally have a BUDGET to keep your family in your home and not out on the street? Probably, because you have to manage your own money. Washington doesn't use their own money, they get to play with OURS, and THEY haven't come up with a BUDGET since the Bush days, (one of their official JOB REQUIREMENTS, incidentally).

But "Prince Harry" has continued to play that "more revenue" game, while they keep giving it away for special considerations, favors later on, and votes. Obama's fault? No, it's gone on for decades, but that don't make it OK to CONTINUE, and this "most transparent administration in history" was going to be "better and smarter." It would NOT be "business as usual." His very words.

The recent GOP victory was in some ways, more of a "blessing in disguise" than most realize, because of what it may have postponed, but as the White House likes to say, "all options are still on the table." Let's hope it doesn't come to it. I've always believed in our basic party platform (as it ONCE WAS, anyway), but I have to honestly say that I'd feel a whole lot better about next year if it WASN'T McConnell on one side and Boehner on the other, leading things. We can do much better than either of THOSE two.

I halfway understand the old Reid/Pelosi regime. They probably WERE the best that the left could muster, but WE have no excuse. I know for a FACT our side can do a lot better, but we seem to not want to, (either that, or nobody else WANTS the jobs).

But the GOP had BETTER get tough with Capitol Hill, before the good people in this country decide to follow Obama's example: Just go around the system and take care of this garbage ourselves. (We're actually a lot closer now than most people think).
