Floyd E. Wisherd Jr., beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 22, 2014, with his family by his side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Inurnment will be held at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery in Boise at a later date.

He was born on April 1, 1932, to Floyd and Harriet Wisherd in Missoula, Mont. The family lived briefly in Kellogg, Idaho, and Kalispell, Mont., and then settled back in Missoula, where he graduated from Missoula High School in 1950.

After school he worked in logging operations with his father, Floyd Sr., before entering into his career of 22 years in the U.S. Air Force in January 1952.

In April of 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Popiel, and lived happily for 62 wonderful married years.

While raising their two daughters, he traveled the world extensively throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa, South Vietnam, Turkey, Pakistan, and all of the U.S., eventually settling and retiring in Mountain Home.

He started a new career of 20 years with Mountain Home Agency in 1972.

They enjoyed an easy going retired life pursuing hobbies and sports like hunting, fishing, camping, metal detecting and arrowhead hunting.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cherri Nix of Mountain Home and Sandi Clark of Red Oak, Texas; son-in-law Gary Clark of Red Oak, Texas; grandchildren Aimee (Chance), Brandon (Crystal), and Steven (Jennie), and four great-grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Gina, and Chase, one step-grandchild Brianna, and four sisters, Shirley Horstman, Peggy Manaco, Linda Stine (Bill) and Nancy Ortiz (Corky), and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
